The dramatic hillside site presented extreme vertical challenges, requiring a sophisticated multi-level solution that would safely connect the home to the expansive landscape above.
KHHS designed and constructed an impressive timber staircase and retaining wall system that transforms this steep terrain into a series of accessible, usable outdoor spaces:
- Engineered a soaring timber staircase spanning multiple levels with professional-grade construction and safety features
- Built robust multi-tiered retaining walls using treated timber sleepers to stabilize the challenging hillside terrain
- Created defined garden terraces at strategic levels, providing planting opportunities and visual interest
